Order of posts

I am very confused.
In order to read a first post, I have to start with the last page and then go in reverse until I hit page 1 and have to read from the bottom up.
Is that the way it is, or are my settings off, or...?

Also, there are threads with large photos, mine only small. Is it because I am a newbie?

You have many options by going to your User CP on the left at top of the Forum screen. Then go to Settings, and then Edit Options.
 
I've also wondered the same thing about the organization of the posts when I first joined.
All the other forums that I belong to have original post on first page.

I have original post on first page at the top, it's in your Options. Also on the right top above each thread is a drop down for display modes, select Linear.
 
Since I lurk here often, I have newest posts first so I don't have to scroll to the bottom to see the latest one.
 
OK since this got started and I am a newbie......... I have tried to figure out a way to get a notice for every new post.
You know I'm like a sponge soaking up all the info I can get.
I tried a few times looking in the User CP?
Is this possible?

Click on "new posts" in the forum navigation bar. This brings the list of all the new posts since your last visit. If you do this at each visit you won't miss a discussion.
