Very nice! Got a Pagoda too!

Looks like maybe a 70 or 71?

BTW, E9...no want no radio?

;)

That's one hell of a compressor there. You running a sandblaster?

Its a 1970 280SL. My dad bought it new in April 1970, it was his daily drive for over 25 years. With the exception of the Connolly leather installed over 30 years ago, its all there.
Over time, both BMW and MB have become seamless when it comes to luxury and sport, back then, not so much, the SL is such a comfortable cruising car, and our E9’s much more sport minded, and a lot more fun of a drive.
No sandblasting, my neighbor moved into a condo, who can say no to a free compressor? Our garage has become the neighborhood tire inflation center..(-;
No radio, took it out and plugged the antenna. Those Weber 45DCOE’s make some pretty tones. Terrestrial radio cannot compete...

I’ve never seen one of those AC faceplates with the radio cover. Only in the blue books. Could you snap some closeups?

At one time, I had both a 280SL and a BMW 3.0CS with triple Webers. The Bimmer was a whole lot more fun to drive (also it was a 4 spd and the SL was automatic). Nice pair - I agree.

Tell me what you would like to see and I will snap it for you, I will tell you that radio cover is a piece of plastic cut to size then I wrapped it with leather.
I am having an issue with my wood dash, was thinking of doing the same thing, covering the wood with a leather strip. Crazy, but the wood repair is very pricey.

It wasn’t an E9 back in the day, though in 1973, my Tii was parked next to the SL...Needless to say, I had one very cool dad!

There is something so right about a CS and triple Webers! Mercedes of that era drove like no others, though, I do wish the SL a 4 speed.
