Outer door trim

I have new rubber coming so I want to remove and install the rubber piece. All advice is welcome.

I watched a master do this, you can't slide new rubber in, push it down with plastic blade like they make for removing chrome trim with lots (!) of lubricant. On a 2002 you can spread the metal a bit, here not so much. Make sure it's a bit long, it eventually shrinks.

you have to dig it out
then grease the new piece and slide it in.

Thanks for the info guys. I have one side out, it needs to soften up. I used goof off, soaked it a few times and just keep digging the 40 year old rubber out.
