Hi I am going to be replacing my rear muffler shortly and I wanted to know if anyone knows the hanger part number and if available. Also, where is the best place to procure such an item? Dealer? Or alternative?

One of these hangers started cracking on the rubber and was well on its way of breaking completely. Probably too much weight of the exhaust that is straining on the thin rubber of the hanger. Decided to put 2 hangers back to back (one side of hanger is flat) on both ends the rear muffler and they have held up very well with not cracking of the rubber yet.
 
Did you use the OEM BMW coupe ones or an exhaust shop one?

I was told I CANNOT use a universal one... Also in the two p/n given, which is for rear muffler?
 
Part #6 is the rear muffler and 2 are required which will run over $50. I went to Pep Boys and bought a long universal one and cut it to fit, works fine and was about $8.

If you get a universal one you may need a couple extra washers, nuts & bolts etc to get it to fit, a little creativity is needed but it's easy
