Hello,

I am up in the Seattle area and am looking for any recommendations for a good restoration shop in the Seattle/Portland area. I have a 72 3.0 CS that I will be stripping down to the body (off frame). The front and rear quarter panels will need to be removed to get at the areas underneath – the usual welding, patching, rust removal and complete paint job are necessary. I expect I will be doing most of the disassembly and putting back together of the non-body components. A shop that could potentially do some of this might be useful.

I have observed one shop (EuroTech Bodywerkes in Kirkland) restore a yellow CS last year. They seemed to have done a nice job.

Any guidance appreciated.
Thanks

sure you know where you're going?

Resto/rebuilds take a shitload of dough.

By the by, there is no frame from which coupe bodywork can be remvoed. Typo or mistake? Could be telling.

Good luck. My limited experience is that if a shop is good at this they will never agree to do it again. My shop here in Maryland only charged $4500 for this work with me doing most of the strip down/reassembly work. Although it took 13 months and they did a great job, the owner will never agree to do another one; he learned his lesson well. He now hates old BMWs. During the process I occasionally slipped $100 tips to the actual body guy to keep him focused on quality work. Now he wants to come to my house to help with new floor pans and a new spare tire pan; all I have to do is buy a MIG welder. ...sounds like a deal! :D

It Always Rains In Seattle

JJ,

I like the way you think and do business, that's the way we do it on the East coast. However, I use to live and work in Seattle and things are done a little different there, not better or worse, just different.
