paint code

Is the paint code stamped on the VIN and color plate under the hood? Does anyone know the paint code for polaris? I checked out the paint codes on the e9 register site , but the actual number is confusing to identify on there (there are several listed - i.e. 060/098 - is that the actual code for polaris?). I don't have immediate access to check since my e9 is 300 miles away presently.
Any help is appreciated.

Actually, the paint code is on a small metal plate near the driver's door hinges (Karmann plate), the color name is under the hood on a decal.

Paint codes

The paint code is not stamped on the VIN plate, but is on the Karmann plate as Alex describes. 060 is the common number for Polaris. 098 appears to be an indicator of metallic paint.

My Fjord Blue 1973 CSL has 9892 stamped into the body behind the Karmann plate !!??

If 98 is the indicator for metallic paint what is 92 then - can't find it in any of the lists?? :shock:
