Hi All

I am looking for a bit of advice/guidance re paints/coatings for the below:

- Subframe / suspension parts, gloss/matt?
- Wheel hubs / driveshafts
- Wooden dash (colour)?
- Type of textured black matt paint for gauge surrounds?

Thanks

Looks like you have quite a project there! You have lots of options from simple prime and paint to powder coating. Regarding pieces that should be black, Eastwood's chassis black is good stuff and another option is to ask a local body shop to spray the pieces for you. I did the underside and all the components with rattle cans and tried to follow what was "factory" and very happy with the result. Of course as with anything prep work is key- make sure everything is clean and grease/oil free. On the underside-over the undercoating- I sprayed the entire bottom with "appliance paint" (black) using a tip from an old-timer who recommended doing that because it made the textured areas washable. My coupe has been on the road for about a year and still looks new underneath. Regarding the gauge surrounds, in order to match the original texture I primed and then lightly sprayed with "spatter paint" and after a couple of days used some fine sand paper to knock down the texture and then sprayed with a gloss black. The texture is easier to match than the paint! As a rule (at least for me) clean and black works well underneath. Sorry, can't help with the wood.

Good luck and post lots of pictures!
