Palmdale scam?

Here is supposed seller's response to my inquiry:

"Due to the high volume of internet scams, I give you the chance to receive the car at your home address BEFORE i receive my money for it. I appreciate your interest but I want to let you know that the car is located in Portugal. I purchased the car in US and I moved to Europe, in Portugal the law is different recording the registration of a vehicle that is outside of Europe, it is expensive and difficult to register this car in Portugal, this is the reason of selling. Instead of letting it sit in the garage I've decided to sell it at low price.
I can ship the car to you, also I can be responsible for the transport cost and you'll pay after inspection. The car looks and runs fantastic! Within 19 days
you will get the car and you will have a period of 2 days to inspect the car and when the inspection period ends, if everything is fine you can make the payment.
CLEAN TITLE IN HAND, NO LIENS OR ISSUES!

PLEASE SEND ME YOUR PHONE NUMBER SO WE CAN TALK ALL DETAILS OVER THE PHONE."

Palmdale Portugal then, got it... lol

...and, as discussed before, the real Michael Douglas car has way more of an "accident history" than anybody's admitting to...

Believe it or not people actually fall for this stuff.

Not related but a co-worker bought an Infiniti G35 here at work and fixed it for his dad who lives in Mexico. He took it down there late last year but just found out that because it was manufactured in Japan the car cannot be in Mexico! He made an emergency trip down to get the car last week so he wouldn't lose it to the government.

Seems too good to be true, and that normally means it is. Any of you CA guys know what's the real scoop on this one?
Another Scam Story; Back in 2003 after my first major heart attack, I decided on selling my 67 2000cs and the 66 2000c parts car so I listed it on a BMW club Classified in NY. The first day it was listed I received an email from a person who most likely was foreign who had trouble spelling etc. He said that he was from Nigeria and dealt only with BMW Coupes buying and selling. He said due to the limited numbers of such cars he would buy these sight unseen for what ever the asking price was, I think I was asking $5000 for both. He also said that to let him know what the cost of shipping and handleing wouls be and add this to the total invoice, I said I would send him photos and his answer was that it was not needed. The next day he emailed saying that his transporter was in nTexas delivering a vehicle that he had recently sold and that he would be picking up the cars at my house and he would have a check for,I'm not sure it's been so long, I think $8500 and I would be able to immediately cash it an any bank because it would be a Bank Check and give the driver the difference in cash. I answered back that I would like to have the check before the cars were picked up by the transporter. He got upset st that point, but agreed to mail the bank check. A few days later I received the check and took it to my bank at once to see if there were funds to cover that amount. The teller at the bank said not to worry because it was a Bank Check. I went back to work and called the bank that the check was drawn from and was told nit was a counterfit check and a total of 62 counterfit checks had been received by the bank. I was so happy that I was not one of the people that he had preyed on. I know of one dealer who got stuck for an amount over $32000 because of greed and not doing btheir homework.
Better them mthan name.
The latest phone scam to be careful of is the "can you hear me " scam. You get a call from someone who immediately asks "Can you hear Me" and you answer "yes" which is recorded by the caller and is used by the caller as an answer to a purchase that you know nothing about. A week later it will be your door with a invoice attached. I hope you have enough money to pay for it or pay for a lawyer to stop the scammers from ruining your credit.
Good Luck.
