Hi all, my 72 3.0 cs RHD is out of storage and is getting used thus summer.
But Electrical Gremlin incoming.......

Put a brand new battery on, all the connections are fine, it fired up fine, ran for 20 minuitthen shut off.

Next day, It was beingvused as a prom car for my best friends daughter, so went to start, here's what happend.....

1, key in ignition and turned key.
2, lights came on, fuel gauge came up, all well.
3, turned the key and it all went dead.
4, key out, back in, still completely dead, no lights nothing.
5, put a jump pack on the battery and it came to life, but as soon as I turn the radio on, or even turn the heater on, it's cuts out again and is completely dead again, no dash lights at all.

PLEASE help, I'm guilty of not touching "kieser" for 4 plus years, but I've left it longer previously and have never had this issue.

1-have you checked the charge of the battery? It sounds to me as the battery not holding a charge
2-have you checked the fuses?

Hi, yes, I've checked all the fuses, there fine, plus it's a brand new battery showing a good charge on the multi-meter.

The dash lights all come up fine, and when I turn the key to start there's a click and no power, dead.

Checking the battery with the Voltmeter doesn't tell you anything about the capacity of the battery.
Check if your generator is working properly.
Measure the voltage on your battery, should be something about 12V. Start the engine and measure again. Should be something about 14V. If the value is less than the battery value you measured before then your generator or the voltage controller is not working properly

You might crank it from the diagnostic port - to bypass any suspicion of the ignition switch.
If your electrical system still doesnt support the higher cranking amps required for the starter to get motor turning then you may have a weak/crusty ground or the battery needs more juice. Easy to clean both ends of your battery ground cable and give it a retry.

Good prom car - unusable back seat!

Your car is a manual or automatic? The auto has a switch that prevents it from starting if not in "P"
