Pedals stuck when engine is warm

Hi!

I took my CS for a long drive and got stuck in traffic, like slowly going forward in queues for 30-40 minutes at a time. After some while in the queues the brake and clutch pedals got stuck when pressed. The only way to bring them back was to flip my toe underneath the pedal.

The strange thing was that when the traffic jam cleared the stuck pedal problem went away. Maybe it has something to do with the engine/clutch/gearbox heating up.

Anyone had this problem or a suggestion what to do?
Thanks for helping!

hi, the only thing in common is brake fluid, change it

Yeah it's probably low, which should indicate a leak. Brake fluid doesn't "get low" unless you have a problem.

Also, the fluid could just be really old. Thaf becomes more apparent as the fluid warms up from hard braking.

Let me try remember, it's been a while since I changed pedals to put a 4-speed in place of the AT. Don't both pedals have another thing in common: they're both mounted on a long bolt through the steering column "stuff", and have little plastic bushings? I may be confusing this with the E30 that gave me nightmares and a crooked back when the column mount cracked, or the hideous job of changing the brake master cylinder on the E36. Both of those latter two are now gone, one at cost, the other for a couple bucks.

The pointer to brake fluid and reservoir is good but I'd (also) ensure free travel under the dash.

I second the pedal bushing. I experienced the exact same thing. PO had installed too long and too tight bushings. Changed them with another set I had lying around and voila.

PO had also inserted the bolt for the pedal assembly from the center of the car before installing the heater, but I digress.
