My coupe has a carburetted (Webber 32/36) 3.5L engine.
Lightened flywheel and Pertronix Ignition.

Would I notice a difference if I;

1. Installed exhaust headers
2. replaced the OEM coil with a Bosch Blue

The headers would help, but you would probably get much better performance if you got a better carb setup, like the 38/38, or just converted to Motronic.

The header part of your question begs other questions, What manifold are you thinking of replacing and with what type of headers you are thinking of as replacements. Also, you are not clear as to what TYPE of a difference you might notice. For example, chrome headers always look different. Then, there's the sound component, the weight component, the longevity component, the horsepower/torque components and so on.

There's an awful lot out there on this subject, including information from those that make and sell headers.

From personal experience, most headers make a different sound, usually louder and tinnier. They also tend to lose more heat, as compared to cast iron manifolds - so that the engine bay may increase in overall ambient temperature. AND, if the headers are too large, they may prove counter productive in terms of power production.

If your present coil is functioning adequately, a blue coil will not add much except for eye appeal and maybe the reduction of a few ounces if you deep six the ballast resistor.

Good luck

Be careful as you open Pandora's box, it has tremedous checkbook suction capabilities!!

I'd suggest starting with a dyno session of what you have with a 'reputable' Weber guru to establish a optimized base tune before you start tweaking and changing parts. That way you which direction to thow $$. It may reveal other 'priorities' before you can bolt on 'go-faster' goodies. I know this from personnal experience, my first dyno session told to me to do a head job or replace the motor...... :shock:

If you are going to put on a header, (any brand/type), I suggest having it ceramic coated ( I did Jet-Hot treatment). It will increase the life span of header, increase flow and reduce engine bay temps..plus it looks great and is a extremely durable finish. I am very pleased with mine.

Depending on what your trying to do or purpose of the car, you may have options. Suspension and gear ratios (LSD?) may produce more bang for the $$.

just my 2 cents & HTH
