There are some interesting photos of the early CSLs in the BMW archives. In 1971 the first "vorserie" version of the CSL was pictured on some nice photos with Schloss Nymphenburg in the background:

Interesting fact is the steel front bumper in combination with the rear one in plastic. The rear bumper was also painted in the same colour as the car!
When BMW experimented with the addition of the Batmobile kit, the colour and design of the CSL stripes was an issue. BMW produced two versions and put both versions on the same CSL protoype. You can see each version on each side of the prototype CSL from 1973:

As you know, the conclusion was to use the stripes with the motorsport colours, seen on the left side of the CSL prototype, but with the design as seen on the right side.
Please notice on the interior pictures, the steering wheel and the extra meter (oil pressure?) below to the right of the steering wheel.
