Gota love the gull wings, I'm not really a MB guy, but one of those would be nice

on a side note, I had the luck to meet a guy last year at a wedding that has 3 or 4 (cant remember exactly) gull wings, and was in the middle of restoring another that just happened to be Stirling Moss's factory supplied road car from when he was driving for them.

Now that one would be worth some money!
 
Not an MB guy myself either but you have to be able to appreciate the classics.

I was surprised by the number of gullwings myself, only 1400 built apparently. Many seem to still be about. Your friend's collection seems quite impressive.
 
Yes, I believe he has the largest single owned collection of gull-wings in the southern hemisphere, but the stirling car is the real gem.
He was telling me he has upset some of the gull wing fanatics by not restoring the car to its exact original specifications with it being such a historically important car.
He is painting it a different colour to original and changing the upholstery colour as well, but, as he says, it's his car so his colour choice, after he's done with it they can always change it back.

Personally I like his attitude

The car also happens to be a early aluminum bodied car so makes it all the more special
