I have a set of BBS RS wheels I would like to get tires for. They are all 16x7 et11. I know the common coupe setup is 205/55 front with 7 inch rim and 225/50 on the rear with an 8 inch rim; however, I would like to keep all me wheels the same size (easier to rotate). My options are to run either 225/50 on all wheels, or 205/55 on all wheels.

So, if anyone is running a full set of 205/55/16, please post some pics. Additionally, if anyone is running 225/50/16 front and rear on 16x7 rims, please post some pics.

thanks in advance!!

It think 225 are to wide for the front.I just install 205's on the front and they are inside of the fenders. You should go 215 on the rears and forget the rotation.Staggered set of tire's really looks good on these cars. Tim
PS PM me your email and I'll send pictures if you would like. Also do a search there is probably some photos.

At one point, I had 225/50s all around on a set of staggered Alpinas and the front tires stuck out beyond the front fender lips. 205/50s all around would have looked a lot better.

Here are your wheels. BBS RS-005 16X7 ET-11 all around. These wheels do have a staggered tire set on them. 205/55 & 225/50. All 4 lips were rolled due to rubbing. You will destroy your fenders if you try to fit a 225 up front. This car is running a Dinan spring set without camber plates. ET-11 in the rear with a 225 requires you to roll the lips. You will not have a problem running all 205/55 with these wheels.

Chris,

Good eye! When Don and I received this car it had a LONG list of things that needed attention. The guards have been corrected prior to delivery to the new owner.

Barry,

Not mine. New owner lives up in Sf. Came to us with black stock wheels. Don did all the motor work to it. Somebody had put the car together wrong! Just made it right.

Thank you for your replies. Terry, beautiful car! I think I will end up doing what you have done, staggered setup with 225's on 7 inch rims in the back. If you get the chance could you post a pic showing a rear quarter view of your car. I'd like to see the relationship of the tire to the fender lip and also the stance.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone with a staggered setup worry about rotating the tires?

i spoke to a bridgestone rep at oktoberfest ... as i was getting new shoes for the coupe + i have staggered 19" setup on the cayman s. his comment was yes you should rotate them side to side.

I put 4 to 5K miles a year on the coupe so I am not worried about rotations. I do make sure that any slight imbalance is corrected though. If your suspension components are in good shape and properly aligned then everything should be fine. Many tires can't be swapped side to side either.

Pamp,

Did you add a 1" wider outer barrel to a ET-11 wheel to make 8"? Typically the inner barrel is changed to make a ET-24 wheel. How did you address the rear lips for clearance with that offset? David at memoryfab.com has all of the parts needed to build the RS's.

Yes, changed the outer by the additional inch (1 1/2'' front and 2 1/2'' rear) And yes, I had to roll the fenders.

As a side note...with my current set up the track is square, front to rear, to within 1/4'' Seems the common practice by the mfg. engineers is to have a narrower track to the rear. Why? Ease of parking perhaps? Anyone with ideas on this one?
I was told at the time that the outer rim was the way to go but it does look as though there is plenty of room if one was to add the inch to the inner barrel, maybe cheaper as well.
Sorry 205/55 front and 225/50 rear as is the established practice
