Maybe I'm late to the party but I called Pierce today to order some stuff and Mike has retired and sold the company to his machinist Dave (didn't catch the last name). Sounds like things will continue but Mike's expertise will surely be missed.
He truly loved his work. I stopped by his shop in Gilroy, CA about 5 years ago to pick up some parts. We had just bought a '72 2002 in SF and were driving it back home to KC. Mike came out to the parking lot to look at the car and he asked me to start it up. He didn't like something about the tuning of the 45 DCOEs so he asked for a screwdriver and in about 1 minute working on the carbs had the engine purring like a kitten. Best Weber parts purchase I've ever made!
Here's the '02 at a historic stop on Route 66.
Yes, Mike was a wealth of knowledge and I spoke to Dave a few times before I found my Weber guru, Steve Armstrong AKA. Stevehose. You should be charging for Weber tunes Steve.
