I'm sorry that pierre is closing up shop as he was sorting out my coupe for me and knows these cars since he was doing pre delivery inspections on them in the 70's and working on them ever since. he is an honest and knowledgable guy but once again i will need a new place to get my car serviced in the NYC area.Any suggestions? thanks

I was quite distressed to hear the news about Pierre as well. He has been caring for my coupe for over 5 years and IMHO irreplaceable with regards to tuning and maintenance of older BMW's.

I know Len S, who was also using Pierre, has located a independent BMW service shop somewhere in PA.

For the time being, my plans are to take my coupe for any major service related issues to Matt McGinn @ Sports Car Restorations in CT. It a bit of a hike for me to travel, but at least I know the car will be in competent hands.

I happened across GTS Motorsports in Bellerose about two years ago, and have been very happy with this specialty shop. Any mechanical work I cannot do myself or needs to be perfected, GTS resolves quickly.

In fact, I purchased my last coupe from Sergio's (owner) former business partner. Sergio is an older gentleman known in BMW circles and runs a very professional, knowledgeable, clean, and efficient shop.

I found out about Pierre closing up shop about a week ago, and am still bummed out! Not only is he extremely knowledgable about vintage BMWs (every visit to his shop was an enjoyable education), Pierre is also one of the nicest people I've ever met. Living in north Jersey, it wasn't easy getting my coupe up to him for its yearly service, but I made the effort because I knew and trusted his work.

Steve O'Neill from the CS Registry recommended Cary in Stockton, NJ. I don't know his last name, or the name of his shop, but the number is 609-397-7847.
