through a very interesting introduction of our great distinctive forum member herr @Stevehose we learnt that these pirelli cinturato cn36 in 205/70vr14 tyres were again available

funny story is that they seem to be only available from an UK tyre business with that expensive £ currency

so a e9coupe friend, that has a pirelli branded shop near his house asked them to find those tyres for him, they went the route to the pirelly headquarters to get these tyres, and the answer was: "that tyres are not in production"

WTH ? what is going on here ? are they pirelli tyres ? are they getting advantage of the brand name but being produced somewhere else ? is this a specific agreement between pirelli and this UK guy ?

my friend is puzzled, he can not get them from his local pirelli shop, ...

Dear Jesus. I’ve asked a friend who works for a tire sales company if these are possible to get in Germany and for how much. Will let you know if I get a positive response.

I think it boils down to licensing and manufacturing rights, much like how Coker works. This would be a zero sum game for Pirelli...

Though Coker's products retain the appearance of the old tires by using the original, refurbished molds, or new molds built from original drawings, the tires are made with modern materials. Coker Tire was given manufacturing rights by the original tire brands, and also has acquired many different tire molds of the original obsolete tires they manufacture. Coker Tire also offers wheels for collector vehicles.

i see, but it is NOT a Pirelli tyre, i mean, who is manufacturing these tyres ? and where ? they were proud of manufacturing them in europe, is this true ?

I read they are made in Pirelli's factory in Turkey and is stamped on my tires. It is quite possible that the person answering the phone at HQ is misinformed.
