E9 Friends,

I found a T-51 here in El Salvador.
Need it for my 3 DCOE setup.

Attached are the photos, please tell me if OK to buy for $125, which I suppose, it is as it is already here, so no shipping. :)
Does not appear to be particularly in great condition, but a repaint is easy, and we have the tools to
open any Ate booster and replace the innards that might it require. Also, the pedal link appears to be too long?

Thank you.
Regards, Alberto

Alberto, I am no expert, but that doesn’t look right to me. It looks too short/stubby to be a correct bmw 2002 tii booster?

Is your coupe a 2800CS? Add it to your signature. I see the early 2800CS pancake booster, the bracket on the left belongs next to fender.

Found a smaller diameter on E9 chat, and clearly at least 1" smaller dia.

This one has a totally different fitting for the vacuum hose to your manifold, original is plastic and twists into place.

Also:
  • Brake booster changes from pancake style to thicker style at 2240222 and 2250146, Master Cylinder diameter changes from 23.8mm to 22.2mm
  • I think this is also when the booster mount changed from square metal to round

Thank you Chris! Finally figured out the 'signature bit' :)

I think, I will let sleeping dogs lie, save $125, and keep the 3 Webers as it always has been.

Kind regards to all!

Alberto

As has been mentioned, there were many variations/sizes of an ATE T51 booster made back in the 60s/70s/80s. Here is a pic for comparison of the stock e9 booster (later, I believe) and the 2002 ti/tii/turbo brake booster.
We, of course, sell the correct tii booster for use on the e9s, rebuilt and modified for a bolt-on solution.

Thank you Hal!
Now I know where to go. When you mention a core, I assume it is a tii booster?
What is the weight of the booster you provide (shipping)?

Regards, Alberto

Yes, it would have to be a comparably sized T51 to be useful.
The booster weighs about 15# and we have shipped these world wide. The cart on the web site should give you a close shipping cost. It we can find a equal quality, less expensive way to ship to you, we refund the difference.
Stay well,
Hal
