I plan on cleaning up the positive lead to my battery. Mine has 5 or 6 lines running into it and the ends are becoming exposed.

In short I see a disaster waiting to happen.

What I'm thinking of doing is installing a battery shut-off at the battery post and a direct lead to a busbar that will accommodate the 5 or 6 lines.

Has anyone done this that can offer some helpful tips and resources?

Thanks in advance.

I went from this:

To this (I have since shrink-tubed the cable ends to clean up that tape):

By wiring all those accessories to a firewall mounted fuse box wired from the + starter terminal:

When selecting a power source for added devices, like fans, pumps, etc. I always use the alternator output as the source. It is the source of all current once the engine is running. I install an 8 gauge wire on the alternator and run it to a junction block similar to the one in the picture. Among the several wires on this junction block is my 10 gauge battery charging wire, which is the only direct connection to the battery. The battery is only used to start the engine.

I use these a lot for power distribution. They are prewired, fused and have a common relay. A very tidy package.
