Lately, I've been doing some cleaning and reconditioning of parts on my coupe. Well today, I took some parts to a powder coating shop. These include the headlight buckets and mounting assemblies, ac fan mounting frame and brackets and the heater blower fan covering plate. All these parts were originally painted in black and have become somewhat rusted due to paint chips. The parts should be ready by next week and I hope they come out decently. I will post some pics when the parts are done.

Hi MisterChinn, the shop is West Coast powder coating in South San francisco. The owner AJ, is great guy to deal with. Amazingly, when he first saw my parts, he instantly recognized them as CS items. He used to owned a few CS coupes, I was told.

SF is a small city so eventually we are probably going to bump into each other. There is an upcoming 2002 car show and parts swap meet down in Palo alto, near Stanford university in early May that I'm planning to attend. Maybe I'll see you there. Usually, there are quite a few coupes in attendance and sometimes you can pick up some hard to find CS parts in the swap meet.

Thanks Bert. I was planning on going to the BA02 swap meet, so I'll probably see you there... gotta track down a leak first before i make that trek... but if all goes well... I'll head down. Oh, just looked it up, and it appears Bay Area 2002 moved the swap meet up to Brisbane, even closer.

If you're happy with the results, post some pics of your newly coated parts, sounds like your coupe is going to be pretty spiffy!

Thanks for the info on the new location, did not know that. Do you happen to know the exact whereabouts in Brisbane? Thank you MisterChinn.

Here are the end results of my recent trip to the powder coater. I have to say all the parts turn out looking fantastic and new. There was the dilemma of choosing either the glossy or satin black but at the end I chose glossy because I reasoned this finish can be more easily wipe clean. A satin silver was chosen for the four headlight adjustment seat cones in place of the original zinc plated coating.

Oh boy, what have I gotten myself into? Barring a full restoration, my less than perfect coupe and all it's old parts will never again quite match up with the newly coated parts. Maybe it was not such a great idea afterall in having these parts renewed. Oh well, what's done is done!
