From the parts manuals it appears that all power steering boxes are the same version for LHD e9s. Is that true?

I have nothing to base this on but due to lack of comments I'll fill the dead airspace...
I thought there was a couple different ratios out there.

Quick ratio wouldn’t be needed with PS, what would be the point. There is one version for the coupes (other than LHD vs. RHD) and it was optional Mon 2.5CS/CSA and CSL.

That seems to square with the parts manual.

That is where I found it but as Keshav would remind us nearly all CSL other than the first 169 ultra-lightweights had PS from the factory.

My first "large" bimmer was a '69 2500a sedan... you WANT power steering. Steering effort did decrease a good deal when I got new front tires.

I believe there are several versions of the e9 2800. etc. steering box. So far the numbers I've looked ending in 162, 191, and the one I own (number plate not legible, have a different amount of turns lock-to-lock. Some have about 5.75 others have less.

Does anyone have any info regarding the model numbers and turns?

There are also two different manual boxes. Referenced quite a bit on this site actually.

Hi,
I couldn’t read the numbers on mine, the box needs rebuilding. Turning it on full lock gives me 3/45, I have another box that is rebuilt and is 4/15. Which should I use?
