So my driving season is over for the summer (AZ - too hot). Now is the time to take care of minor fixes.

I've had a "weeping" power steering pump for a while, so I am pulling it for refurbishment.

Question for anyone who has done this procedure: how do I remove the high pressure hose that feeds to the steering box? There are two nuts ( #2/14mm and #1/17mm) that connect the hose and the metal pipe to the pump. The hose from the reservoir was held in place by a simple screw hose clamp.

Further question - I'll want to renew the high pressure hoses when I re-install the pump. Anyone know of a good source?

Thank you as always.

Only undo # 1 trying to undo # 2 may damage the fitting Take all your old hoses into a hydraulic hose company and they can make new ones for you using your old fittings If you want to go all out, measure the hoses, cut the old hose off the fittings and get them all plated before getting new hose installed on them

Thanks for the advice.
Yes, I want to rebuild every line so that the fix lasts. From what I can tell, this is the first time in 47 years that the pump has been disconnected. The hoses to and from the reservoir started to fray once I removed them and bent them a bit.

Jay Stratton here rebuilds these pumps and does an excellent job. The hose with the crimp in the middle is the high pressure line. Get new copper washers for the fittings on the steering box.
