Problem removing valve cover

Was going to adjust the valves today. Problem encountered when I tried to lift off the valve cover. It seems the cover is stuck on the head and won't come off. I have removed all the attaching nuts and the one bolt so there are no fasteners left. I think a gaskte sealant/adhesive was used on the gasket. The question is, is there anything that will dissolve the sealant? I don't want to pry on the cover and head because it is alumium. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It may be aluminum, but it is pretty strong stuff. Give the cover a knock with a rubber mallet to dislodge it. There is just enough play between the studs and the holes for the studs on the cover as to give the cover some wiggle room.
