Is there any reason why my prop shaft bearing is about 5 inches behind the bearing carrier. It came like that on the car. The previous owner had reversed the bearing and attached it to the upper part of the transmission tunnel on either side of the handbrake.

I tried searching the site but nothing came to light but `i do remember seeing a pciture of someone who had re-positioned the bearing carrier.

I once pulled a 745i turbo driveshaft that had a section of rope as a center bearing and a piece of 2x4 wood as a shim.
It was so loud when driving that the shift console was stuffed with a pillow. The tag said Walmart.
The 2x4 left a scar when it hit my forehead.
Truth is often stranger than fiction....

Don't know if it's our website or the weather here in Tahoe - lousy connection, no response/slow response

Has to be the wrong driveshaft for the car. Not surprising, considering the price of driveshafts.

Probably correct. I will move the mounts if it causes a problem. The bearing being upside down does keep the prop shat straight though - probably little difference unless it reverberates through the tunnel.
