Who has some knowledge about Hans Stuck Jr. prototype BMW V12 Coupe (CSI or CSL base)?

The heck with the V12, I’m just curious to know if anyone has successfully swapped a BMW V8 into a E9 coupe ? My friend only a half mile from me has a LT1 small block Chevy in his coupe and it absolutely honks  but it likely kills the value of the car. He is painting it now but In the future I plan to take some photos. ~ John Buchtenkirch

there is a guy that dropped a BMW V8 into an e28 and tracks it with the porsche club guys in SoCal. check out the e28 board.

As conversions go this was not uncommon back in the mid-late 80's...coupla flex joints here and there and some creative header fabrication and you could drop 325-400HP into the cars for the cost of an MM cylinder head! I'd be interested to see foto postings detailing your friend's work!

There is a very brief paragraph referencing the V12 E9 coupe, but unfortunately with no photos in the softbound book "BMW M-SERIES AND PERFORMNCE SPECIALS". This is very unfortunate as the short description does not shed anymore light on this ultra unique coupe.

It reads as follows:

THE V12 COUPE

BMW built what will likely remain their single most desirable postwar vehicle for Hans Stuck Jr., who was among the company's most successful race driver. That car was apparently a 3.0CSi or CSL fitted with a prototype 4.5 liter V-12 engine (as was later installed in the 750i sedan and 850i coupe). Very little is known of this car, or if it survives.
