My '73 has the factory arrangement of the PS belt taking power from the WP pulley. I'd like to do the "crank PS belt mod" to have the belt arrangement look as the pic below:
When I saw this picture (from an old Rob S. thread) I wondered how well the tensioning arrangement works since the slots on the PS pump brackets are slotted to vary the distance from the WP, not so much from the crank.
Looking at the parts diagram I see that cars which came from the factory with the PS crank belt would have had support brackets (#1 and 10) that are slotted to vary the distance from the crank, which I don't have (nor does the one in the pic above...). I have #5 and 9.
Does this matter? Have you been able to properly tension the PS pump with the 'up and down' slotted brackets?
As a bonus for me, could you tell me the size belt you used? Thanks.
