question about E3 seats

When E3 seats changed to the new style in 1974, did they also change the underlying structure or padding? In other words, could I recover my 1974 seats with the 1973 and earlier style seat covers?

And speaking of padding, are good replacements sold anywhere?

Apparently no difference in shape, only whether it has a horseshoe shape to seat or backrest.

Thanks, Chris. These are the covers I am considering, but I was hoping someone knew if there were actual differences in the construction between early and late seats. Sometimes these places will sell you a part that 'works' for all year, but doesn't fit particularly well.
My seat pads are not good and likely not original. Is there a source for new ones, or do you have to have an upholstery shop do their best to reconstruct them?

An auto upholstery shop will shape new bases from foam using whatever is left of the gummihaar pads. They can install them much easier than you or I.
