My left front turn signal has not been working.
The running light was working but the turn signal wasn't.
I thought it was just a bulb that needed to be changed.
When I took the bulb out and tested in the right signal socket, it worked perfectly (running light and turn signal).
When I looked at the contacts within the left turn signal socket, they had become dislodged. The plastic/resin piece that holds the contacts had pushed out of the housing.
I removed the signal housing and tried to push the plastic contact assembly back into the signal housing (which I thought I had done successfully). I put the bulb back in and it worked perfectly before I re-installed the housing. I removed the bulb and installed the housing, replace the bulb and it didn't work. On returning the bulb into the housing, the contacts were again dislodged.
...housing out again, replaced plastic disc/contacts in the housing and extended the little dents providing resistance against this happening again (with a slotted screw driver and small hammer). This seemed to be exactly what was needed for the right friction fit.
Now the running light and turn signal aren't working.
The contacts are aligned vertically as they should be, the bulb works perfectly when tested on the right side socket. I did replace the wires to the contacts as they were before I started
I suspect I will need to get out my volt meter to diagnose where the issue lies now - can anyone help with where to go from here?
Thanks
Peter
