I'm looking at replacing the starter. I've read up on the tips and tricks...using a newer starter, replacing bolts with studs/nuts, etc.
As I understand it removing the rear carb is necessary. I have to agree, after surveying the situation, I don't see anyway around not removing the rear carb. So to cut to the quick, is there is an easy way to do this?
1. unbolting the intake seems straight forward
2. coolant lines seem pretty straight forward. I assume I can't leave them connected and just move aside? If I remove those hoses, I assume I have to drain the rad or can I just drain what's in the hoses and over flow bottle?
3. Carb linkage - this is the part that give me the most pause. What's the best approach here? As far as I can tell it doesn't seem trivial to disconnect the carb linkage.
Thank you for you help.
BTW, I love you long time if you supply pictures to illustrate your tips.
