The PO on my 72 3.0CS had a VW radio installed on a bracket coming in from the sides of the console.About 2 years ago I installed a $75 CD player.About a month ago I found I had left the driver's door open when the car was in the driveway and the radio was gone.I'd like to say he carefully clipped each wire and did no damage but he must have been in a hurry!
This is the console type with the open area below the vents when the car didn't come with the factory radio.I never had so much fun taking the console apart and running new wires. The "box" where the A/C and window switches is so crowded that I took out both A/C controls and the 2 little oak blocks and still had a hard time getting it all back in neatly.
I'm in a suburb of Denver and my driveway is visible to 5 other houses.I figure this "master thief" had to check out the open door and make a return trip with tools to remove the bracket.I'm in a cul du sac and can't believe the cojones on this guy taking his life in his hands to do this.Have since installed motion detector outside garage to give him more light when he goes after my new Alpine!
Thanks for listening!
