re-chrome a door mirror?

Has anyone had sucess re-chroming a side mirror?
Also, is the ivory mirror seal (or something that will replace it) available, or from a glass shop.

Trapezoid or flag style mirror? Someone on eBay is selling the trap style head and they come apart easily. The heads are stainless and not chromed (I think) so polishing is an option. Trap seals are available off and on, not sure about the flag though.

They are Trap and it is the pedestal the Trap attaches to that has a little peel on it; RealOEM #4 (no part number listed). The seal is the one that secures the glass inside the Trap (it is not listed in the parts list) not the base to the car.

Where is this seal available?

The white seal was NLA, then available, then NLA again, not sure of today's status. Check with Peter (Coupeking) or Carl Nelson. I love Jim and Spence at Mesa but they aren't always up on what is NLA or not.

Yes, it can be rechromed, it might be pot metal but if not pitted it should come out nice.
