sfdon posted this to the e9 board in February...the warning is equally useful if you are using 2122 fuel hose on your e3...
I smelled definite gas fumes while starting up by '72 Bavaria last week, and decided to double check in the engine bay. Imagine my surprise to find a veritable fountain of gasoline spraying out the sides of a couple of the hoses feeding my dual Weber carbs...
After a very quick shut-down and a look at the rotting hose issue online, I decided to replace it all with R14 (rated for gas with ethanol / methanol) hose. Doesn't "look" right, but hasn't leaked yet either. Stamped SAE 30R14T2 2024.
My 2122 hoses had been in the car about a year. I will be watching these new hoses very carefully.
Big warning on Cohline fuel hose. We are replacing all Cohline 2122 we have installed.
Absolute fire hazard from defective product. Car towed in yesterday with 1 1/2 year old hose squirting gas onto the firewall. The fabric on Cohline 2122 conceals the rapid cracking that is occuring. This defective hose is being talked about all over the internet with Cohline refusing to acknowledge.
