Also, do all CS's have this VIN plate? I don't even know where this is located.

. Early York A/C systems have a vibration damper in the system. Could that be the item in question rather than a dryer?
Really neat looking underbonnet area!

All US coupes have the VIN on the steering column cover. A/C has a rotary compressor and the muffler as it is called isn’t needed so they mounted a modern drier there.[/QUOTE]

Wouldn't they just mount the drier where the stock one is?

Right. They could have used stock style drier to fit the stock location.

Southern California is the only place left in the world with lots of specialty shops where labor is cheap and quick and quality is high enough you can get this kind of price point for this kind of car and the kind of work this car has had done, and done well....quite possibly couldn't do one to this level for this price anywhere else in the world. But ... perhaps I am getting carried away by the photos.

Hmm, on my Bavaria, the rear sway bar was optional but never the front. This car has no front sway bar that I can see.

That is a bit strange. Re e3: early cars had a rear bar but no front, Bavs had a front bar but not a rear, I wonder what caused BMW to change?

Beautiful car. When I went Sanden I deleted my pulsation dampener but kept the drier in the original location.

It looks like the engine was out for the paint job. I think if I was going that far, I would have gone to a manual trans during the restoration.

Texas also has low cost labor, dry climate, and you can use better stronger longer life paints here compared to CA :-)

Cheers
James
