I would appreciate any suggestions on the best mount to use for the Bilstein rear shocks, particularly with reinforced shock tower tops. My car has been running Bilstein comforts for almost 20 years and I am upgrading to the heavy duty.

I know Carl does not use the Bilstein upper mount bushings in the rear preferring the OEM 3.0cs coupe mount. Apparently the issue is the Bilstein bushings do not fit the shock tower hole well, and can wear it oblong. But the Bilstein bushings for the 2002 do fit properly.

I my case the prior owner had already reinforced the shock tower tops with steel washers and a nice TIG ring weld. The comforts were mounted with the Bilstein bushings and seem to work without issue though I have yet to disassemble the mount.

At this point I am gathering the parts I will need. Any suggestions are appreciated.

You might ask H&B over in Berkeley what they suggest. I have their suspension package on my '74 3.0 csi and it's excellent. They use a custom valved Bilstein that falls somewhere between Heavy Duty and Sport. It matches perfectly with their suspension package.
