In the process of replacing brake hoses, master cyl etc. In trying to bleed rear brakes, no joy. Found that valve thingie full of debris. Is there a source? Or of the internal parts etc? Or should I just bypass it? The other side had a kinked steel line, so I have been braking on the fronts only it seems. Good thing I am a conservative driver!

Hi there
I rebuilt mine with parts for a Porsche
I have attached a link to it below
Hopefully it helps

Well we put it back together after cleaning it and it seems to be AOK now. Power Brake Store doesn't show anything at all for the Coupe for this year. 74

Just call him and talk to him.

He does all of mine.

You might get lucky, but those tiny bits of brake hose that get into the system as the hoses deteriorate are very difficult to dislodge and remove without opening up the valve.

Moreover, just because your rear brakes work does not mean your proportioning valve is working. It may be stuck to allow fluid to flow, but not to provide pressure relief. This means if ever you have to stop quickly enough to lock up your brakes both your front and rear will lock up, or worse yet your rear brakes may lock up before your front brakes. In either case the car would be much more difficult to control, and you will only learn of this in a panic situation.

I would do the rebuild.

thanks for the leads guys. we got it cleaned out and put back together and the car no longer pulls to one side. that may be because the rear brake line was pinched on one side, old injury, no idea how that happened. anyway, all the rubber in the braking system is now new

I seem to remember that after reinstalling these things, unless you bleed it by cracking the output(s) that you will never get the system properly bleed and get a firm pedal (unless get lucky). Recollection is the process is a mess. Got to bleed the valve then go on to bleeding the rears. We have a 2800cs so we have rear drums.
Just went through the brake bleeding process last year and I HATE brake fluid.
