Some previous owner must have installed Bavaria spreader springs (the X spring that tensions the pads, held in by the 2 pins) because the springs are too small. I’m thinking this because the Bavaria didn’t have the thicker vented rotors so the pads are closer together and the opening in the Bavaria caliper is smaller. Does anyone beside the dealer sell the spreader springs ? Do all the disc brake coupes have vented rear rotors ?
These setbacks are a heart breaker, I would really like to get the car on the road at least a month before it snows so I can sort it out and figure out what to work on this winter but I’m starting to wonder  now if I’m going to make it. ~ John Buchtenkirch

Your car has got x springs from a 2500-2800 cars, cars from 3.0 liters on have vented rotors at rear.....
I saw a lot of sets(spring and 2 pins each) on the bay, here in europe, for little money....
Never thought to see auction from other continents, but try....anyway I know there are a lot of specialist , there, maybe they have common use parts.....

waitaminnit

my USA '73 3.0CS has solid rotors on the rear, with calipers to match.

Realoem shows both solid and vented rotors, 1971-1975, but no part listing for the solid rotors. Where are they hiding?

oops i mispoke. the solid single rear rotor is on an e3 rear (3.0 bavaria). 2800cs has rear drums and solid front rotors ... sorry for the error. i wasn't aware that any 3.0cs had solid rears (originally).

I really doubt your car was built with solid rear rotors. The solid rear rotors were used on 2.5CS coupes and E3 sedans.
