Hi guys,

For a while now I noticed that my rear fog light switch was rather often in the "on" position. Thought that I probably hit it with my knee but only today noticed that after pushing it in the "off" position it has a life of its own and jumps back on.

Now for my question is the switch at the end of its life or is their a trick to get it back to work as it should?

Many thanks in advance.

There is a thread here on how to fix. You need to carefully pry it open, you will see the post that travels in a slot, it needs to be bent to stay in position.

Hi guys,

Been trying to find the thread Chris is referring to but no luck so far.

Got the switch out but no idea how to open it?:(

you have to simultaneously press in the lock tabs located in the middle part of the circumference of the switch, just below the threads.

I describe as i did.
You have to gently pry all over the button in showed areas all over perimeter. You will need about 5-6 thin metal sheets (i cracked paper knife blade as they fit pretty well)
I used also paper knife for prying as it hard and thin.
So:
1 step - gently pry with the paper knife,
2 step - slide cracked blade in place that is pryed
3 step - move paper knife blade forward the perimeter
after you put about 5-6 thin metal sheets all over the perimeter you should be able to disassemble the switch.

Thanks for the explanation Wladek but your probably more handy than I am. I can't even move those tabs without damaging them.

If anybody has a good spare lying around, please let me know.

Thanks Wladek just picked it up. Probably from a '73 model or later because of the chrome ring surrounding the green button but otherwise looks identical.
If you don't like silver ring - you can remove it with something like nail polish remover or light acetone. Original paint is not so strong, so it could be done without risk of damaging.
Personally i more prefer version with silver ring.
