Rear muffler Install

I need to change the rear muffler on my 3.0CS

1. Is it something I can do myself or special tools required? Like an acetylene torch?

2. Do I need to purchase a muffler installation kit like the one bavauto has in the link below?

hi bez
if it is only the rear muffler and if it is the original, you can do it yourself

two parts involved,

rear pipe, you undo sone nuts and some bolts, and you remove it first

rear muffler you undo the nuts of a sort of clamping strap that joins this rear muffler to the next intermediate muffler, and remove the 2 rubber supports and you can remove it from the car by means of turning, rotating, and, yes, using your favourite adult language

it is advisable to replace the rubber supports by new ones and replace all sealings by new ones, you can buy them from bmw directly

new bolts and nuts are a good idea too when posible, exhaust gases plus heat plus dirt creates corrosion

Yeah, hit the bolts with Rostoff or Kroil, let them sit overnight, and then make sure you can actually get the bolts to turn. The answer will indicate how big a project you may have.

A few photos of the stock set up with connectors. The hardest part will be dealing with the rusted bolts/nuts and maybe the intermediate pipe rusted to the rear muffler entry sleeve.
