Rear quarter panels/sidewalls

Hi, Does anybody know the difference between the early e9 2.0 CS rear sidewall/quarter panels and the ones fitted to the later e9 3.0 CS cars. I have been told the wheel arches are different ? if so, is the rest of the panel identical ?

I know a friend used Volvo P1800 inner rear arches/tubs when restoring his 74 csl, only minimal alteration was needed, plus they were pennies compared to the bmw parts.
