rear suspension/CS racecar

Hi, building Batmobile style race car, wondered if I should fit new rear shock towers and fit coilovers, have some towers from E24, is this a good idea, or not worth the trouble, will fit crossbrace to rear towers.
any thoughts welcome

hmmm

I'm no fabricator, but consider the plus and minus of what you're proposing.

First, are the existing towers good? You'll need to know in either case, so some cleaning and inspection is in order.

Second, other than bracing the two towers against each other, what other stress pickup will you incorporate? If the towers are crap, but your pick up and distribute shock stresses in the cage, tower condition would be irrelevant. Seems to me the question comes down to "how extensive is your cage going to be?"

I agree, if the cage is incorporated into the shock mount, the sheet metal is mostly irrelevant.

Hi, just wonered if this is usual mod, as will replace seperate rear spring and shock, and replace with coilover, fit E24 shock tower and brace to roll cage + crossbrace between towers,
