Rear Window and Rear Deck Tips

Hi all. I'm starting to put back rear window. It's original with all new rubber. First I want to build a new rear deck. Someone in past chopped metal holes for speakers, I was thinking of using a a wood base then covering with a 70's saddle color speaker type fabric. Any tips out there? Thanks

I used 6mm plywood, covered in thin foam and vinyl.
