I found this connection under the pillar cover after rear windshield removal, yet my rear windshield has no defrost. Were all cars wired for this but it was an option or was my glass replaced ?

i actually thought that all e9 and e3 came with rear defroster ... perhaps it was changed and glass with no defrost was put in. does your car have the amber switch below the steering wheel?
I think the wire is in all coupes.
