Trunk refurb

While traveling to San Francisco on business, I had the opportunity to meet Tom Panacci in Walnut Creek. Tom is ding a great job restoring his CS and his pictures are the third site listed in my email. When he made a new trunk panel he kept a paper template which I made a copy of to bring back to New Hampshire.

I made the panels from the thinnest masonite I could find. The two pieces were attached to each other using the metalized tape used for heating. I attached the elephant skin to the masonite using the 3M spray adhesive.

After 2 years it has held up very well!

Rear Panel

Don't know what it is called but I am sure you know what I mean.

Any tips on where to find one, complete or just board, or have you made your own? Mine is falling apart :(

I bought a 4'X8" sheet of heavy cardboard (used for door panels) from an upholstery shop then used the old panel as a template, I'm sure either method works equally well.

Uphostery Cardboard

That may work even better as I had to use a saber saw (jigsaw) to cut the masonite and that was far from easy! The original product is cardboard so if your trunk is not prone to leaking, it will likely hold up fine!
