I just took my CS to a local vintage VW/Porsche place to have them install the windshield and the rear window (with new seals from BMW). They got both in nicely, but they had some trouble getting the chrome/aluminum strip in, especially in the rear. Anybody know who is really good at this near Sacramento?

BTW... they did install the decorative strip into the rubber before installing the glass.

BTW... I don't mind going to the bay (San Francisco, Oakland, etc) if that's what it takes to get this done right. Any ideas?

You can't install the strip after the glass goes in…
My guys charge 250 for both pieces and come to my shop in Oakland.
Let me know if you want their info.
Yes- they work Saturday's!

Don's place is probably the right place to go since it's a bit closer and open Saturdays, but I know someone in SF that can help you as well if that doesn't work out for whatever reason.

I maybe in need of some glass work service sometime in the near future, could you please provide me some info on your glass guy. I'm just across the bay in SF. Thanks!

I probably didn't word that well. I double checked before he started that he was putting the rubber on the glass, then putting the strip into the rubber, then installing the entire assembly onto the car.

I would be very interested in having your glass guy do this for me, Don. I'll send a PM. Thanks!

He comes to your location and does a nice job. He did Jaberjaw for me last weekend.

Thanks Don,

After speaking with Fred, I'm a bit confused about one thing. The front windshield seal at the driver's side bottom corner doesn't extend over the body properly. Fred said this is a symptom of having an aftermarket seal. I ordered my seal from Maximillian, and the packaging it came in indicates that it is a BMW part made in Germany. I'd buy another seal from the local BMW dealer, but I'd rather not do that if I'm just getting the same part again.

Are the OEM seals thicker at the corners? Could it be that the seal is not quite oriented correctly?
