Someone was inquiring about refinishing the wheels and I finished a set using self etching primer (pep boys) followed by Krylon Dull Aluminum (cheaper and more readily available than Wurth) Here is a crappy photo taken by my iPhone. The photo does not do the paint justice. And, I have only shot one coat of clear(wurth) so far. Thanks Bill Riblett!

Nice work! I find it very rewarding refinishing the wheels. Key to their lasting appearance is to try and polish the hell out of the lacquer once done so as not to leave any 'rough' surface for the dust to cling too.

I try to avoid the laqueur, as I think it looks better slightly matt. Taste is very individual though. I certainly don´t want the late 70s and 80s shiny BBS look on my wheels. Fixing damages is also easier without the laqueur.
How do you polish off the laqueur? or do you just make it less shiny? by rubbing it with ????

Nealf: very nice work. Well done!! What is the trick with the etching primer?
What does it do ?? The paint will stick without it, won´t it??
