All, does anyone, anywhere, keep track of these cars in a registry, which can be accessed by anyone for basic info?

I'm sure you are all aware of the work that Bob Murphy and Keith Kreeger have put into the 2002 listings.

http://www.bmw2002registry.com/

What I am trying to establish, (thought experiment) is a means of determining what BMW was building on any given day(any given week would be a great start)

The E9's Karmans came off the line independently of the 2002, but what about the colour shipments? Were only 3 colours sprayed in a week or was the entire palet available? Did the E9's suffer from the same steering wheel strikes?

Just a bunch of curiosity, nothing more?

Developing a very rigorous spreadsheet or database, including colours, mirrors, seats colour, fabric, wheels and production dates, will help tell a very large story, and maybe other stories can be found amongst the detail?

I believe this exercise will add understanding and value to these cars.

Wow, no interest? amazing.

Tell ya what, give me your vin, original colour, original interior colour, mirror shape, auto/manual, date of production etc, and I will start logging these for all to see. (I really think this is a good idea). As I understand it, the E9 registry does this, but who is privy to the info?

Would be great if we had a facility such as the one Keith Kreeger assembled for the 2002 registry. Keith, are you listening in?

Ok, I'll start. These days, we're generally more interested in arguing about coupe value (or lack thereof) than anything more interesting. :? The E9 CS Registry is run by Paul Wegweiser's dad, Art, who is, let's say, very old school and really possessive of information collected about CSR members' coupes. Suffice it to say, he has yet to grasp the concept of information and the internet. Anyway, my own wrecks:

1. The BMW 2800 CS US VIN 2270479 was manufactured on January 27th, 1971 and delivered on February 12th, 1971 to the BMW importer Hoffman Motors in New York City. The original colour was Chamonix, paint code 085. Interior was blue leather, manual trans.

2. The BMW 3.0 CS US Automatic VIN 2250636 was manufactured on June 26th, 1973 and delivered on July 4th, 1973 to the BMW importer Hoffman Motors Corp. in New York City. The original colour was Polaris metallic, paint code 060. Interior was blue leather, automatic trans.

I had a load of cs registry mailers from the 80s that the guy before Art used to send out these had about 3 pages of info on owners /phone / adresses and the cars info.Pretty cool . Ralph the new owner of Too-low will be getting them in the trunk of the coupe .I am sure he will be an active member of the gruppe , who knows he might share it too.

I wonder if starting a YUGO registry will add to the value of my beloved YUGO? Its a very rare car indeed, which should make it more valuable....probably less YUGOS on the road these days than MB300SL Gullwing.

PJ, cool, I would like to get my hands on the data.....

ABE3.0CS, wow-generally just getting panned here, cool!

If you like, you should start a registry for the Trabby, the Yugo and the k-car.

Good on Ya.
