I'm in the process of servicing my front window regulators ; the metal wheels inside the track "runners" have ball bearings which are gummed up with old grease and will not turn freely. I've soaked in kerosene, sprayed parts cleaner and carby cleaner.....the wheels spin freely initially, however, after a few hours it seems the old grease residue "sets" once again and the wheels cease to spin freely. Hope someone has a "magic bullet".Cheers, Simon

Ben there. You have to clean multiple times till all the grease is out. Clean, run, clean, run.

Use classic paint thinner. Dissolves oils / grease the best. Take care as it migrates through skin, and has nasty health effects after longer exposure. Its use is not allowed for professionals indoors in the EU I believe.

Some fatty compounds can polymerize over time, making them insoluable. That is for instance very common inside these air extractor devices above your cooking area. Scraping is the only way sometimes.

If you want to go all out enviro safe ( which means you gotta be really patient), I use Simple Green. It doesn't cut through layers but does remove the top layer nicely. I actually mix it with "Goop" to clean my hands.
