I am trying to remove the differential from my coupe (70 2800) and I am not sure how to separate the half shafts from the diff. I have removed the six bolts attaching the half shaft at the diff but I can’t get it loose. Do I need to remove the bolts at the wheel -end as well? The books I have are not very clear, so I could use the help of the experts.

Thanks,
Steve

Hi
As far as I remember, the shaft has a "round" profile (that fits in the diff) so you need to lift a bit the wheel to extend the shaft and gently use a hammer to get it off. Or may be it comes off, only when lifting .
On first removal, I had some trouble like you, as -on your side - it may never have been removed since the end of 60's.
