Back in January, I bought this 1972 Malaga Red CS beauty as a 50th birthday present to myself (we're the same age!)

We've been having a blast together this summer and I was hoping to get through the driving season and then take her in somewhere to get some relatively minor things fixed over the winter (tachometer, gas gauge, AC fan). But now at start-up the clutch won't seem to "engage" and she won't go into gear.

I am decidedly *not pleased* with the aging metaphors.

Unless someone has some magic and basic ideas about what I can do (Head's Up: I'm not mechanically inclined) to get her back on the road, does anyone have suggestions for a trusted shop in the northern NJ, southern NY, or CT area?

Maybe the secondary cylinder let go? Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir. Not for empty but below the clutch take off line.
Although, I'm not completely clear on what you mean by "engage".

"engage" as in it won't go into gear from neutral (grinds when I approach reverse). I will have a look at the brake fluid, thanks!

Sal at Rennsport in Hackensack knows e9’s. He worked on mine and I’ve seen others in his shop.
