Repairing the 2000CS chromed horn ring

Mine has the entire bottom section broken off but I found one that's only broken in one place and I'm wondering if and how they can be repaired. It looks like pot metal and I'm afraid it can't be welded or braised.

Pot metal can be welded, I’ve had it done on license plate frames, just need to find an expert who also chrome plates.

The handwork involved to get it welded and chromed will be quite a bill.
My guess is that it's north of 350 usd (guessing from 10.000 miles away though)

2000cs parts on the other hand aren't that expensive generally. It may be cheaper to buy another steering wheel to use or harvest the part from.
